I write on behalf of staff and students of Information Technology and Decision Sciences Department at UENR-Ghana to extend our warmest congratulations to you on your well-deserved appointment as Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation. Your unwavering dedication to advancing Ghana’s technological landscape has been evident over the years, and this new role presents an excellent opportunity to continue driving digital transformation, fostering innovation, and ensuring inclusivity in Ghana’s ICT sector. At UENR’s Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences, we are particularly proud of this milestone, as we have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand your passion for ICT and youth empowerment. Your presence at the UENR Tech Fair in July last year, which I had the honor of organizing, remains a testament to your commitment to leveraging technology for national development. It was during this event that you, representing the then-candidate H.E. John Dramani Mahama, eloquently articulated your party’s ICT policy vision to over 2,000 Ghanaian youth, reinforcing the critical role of digital skills in shaping the future of our nation.
Given your deep understanding of the intersection between technology, governance, and socio-economic progress, your appointment comes as no surprise. We at UENR’s Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences are excited about the opportunities this brings for collaboration. Under my leadership, our department has consistently been at the forefront of technological research, innovation, and ICT capacity building. We are eager to work closely with you and your Ministry to harness the expertise of our faculty and students in advancing national ICT objectives. One of the boldest and most transformative initiatives your government has set forth the vision to train 1,000,000 Ghanaian youth in ICT, particularly in Computer Programming—is one that aligns perfectly with our department’s core competencies. With our strong track record in software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and decision support systems, we stand ready to contribute technical expertise, curriculum development, mentorship programs, and research-driven solutions to make this vision a reality.
I am confident that your tenure will be marked by groundbreaking policies, strategic investments in digital infrastructure, and impactful collaborations that will shape Ghana’s digital future. We at UENR’s Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences look forward to strengthening our relationship with your Ministry, providing talent, research insights, and technological solutions that will drive national ICT growth. Once again, congratulations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George. We wish you great success in your new role and assure you of our unwavering support in realizing Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
