Engagement between ITDS, NITA, Codetrain, and NIA

A strategic meeting was held on April 9, 2025, at the NITA conference room between representatives of the University of Energy and Natural Resources’ Information Technology and Decision Sciences (I.T.S) Department and NITA Board Officers, with additional sessions involving Codetrain and the National Identification Authority (NIA). The discussions aimed at fostering collaboration to enhance technological advancements in academia, support innovation, and boost Ghana’s positioning as a technological hub. A key agenda item was strengthening partnerships that align academia with industry demands.

During the session with NITA, several collaborative proposals were discussed. These included NITA's support for UENR’s Tech Fair, hosting the 16th International Conference on Broadband Communication in Ghana for the first time, and setting up a Policy Advisory Group with IT experts. NITA also expressed interest in involving UENR in its green energy project and offered training opportunities in partnership with Microsoft. Furthermore, discussions centered on providing industrial attachment slots for UENR students and formulating impactful technology policies.

Subsequent meetings with Codetrain and the NIA focused on sponsorship and partnership opportunities for the 4th Edition of the Tech Fair. Codetrain was invited to participate in the fair and engage with students while promoting its products. Similarly, NIA was invited to collaborate and support the fair, with an invitation extended to the CEO. Overall, the meetings opened doors for practical training, policy collaboration, event sponsorship, and reinforced the relationship between academia and Ghana’s leading tech institutions.
