Courtesy Call: ITDS Invites Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) to UENR Tech Fair, 2026

In a strategic move to broaden the horizons of the UENR Tech Fair, a delegation from the Information Technology Decision and Sciences (ITDS) recently paid a courtesy call to the Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) at their offices within the Ministry of Communications in Accra. The delegation was led by Prof. Peter Appiahene, alongside the ITS President, Mr. Vincent Opoku. Other members of the delegation included Mr. Jacob Mensah, Ms. Ida Asore Awinsida, and Godfred Agyeman. The visit served as an official platform to brief GDNR leadership on the impact of previous fairs and to formally extend an invitation to the upcoming 2026 UENR Tech Fair.

Key Highlights of the Visit include, Endorsement & Partnership: The leadership of GDNR highly commended ITDS-UENR for spearheading such a vital initiative. They expressed their enthusiasm for the project’s role in driving technology within Ghana and across the sub-region, officially pledging to partner with ITDS for the 2026 edition. Capacity Building: In an exciting development, GDNR hinted at a specialized project designed to train UENR staff and students on Domain Registry operations. While this is a direct collaboration with ITDS, the training will be open to the entire student body, providing invaluable industry-specific skills. • Strategic Networking: This visit is part of an ongoing strategy to bring policy makers, industry giants, and political leaders into the UENR ecosystem, cementing the Tech Fair’s reputation as the biggest tech event in Ghana.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in ensuring our students are not just consumers of technology but active participants in the infrastructure that powers the internet in Ghana. By aligning with GDNR, ITDS continues to bridge the gap between academic theory and national industry standards. "We are thrilled to have GDNR on board. Their commitment to training our students and supporting the Tech Fair validates our mission to lead the digital transformation agenda from the heart of Sunyani." — Prof. Peter Appiahene
