The Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences (ITDS) proudly represented the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) at the 14th edition of the Tech in Ghana Conference - Accra Edition. Held on November 26 to 27, 2024 at the Movenpick Hotel -Accra, the event showcased cutting-edge advancements in information technology. A staff delegation including Dr. Anokye Acheampong Amponsah, Mr. Micheal Ayitey Jnr, Mr. Emmanuel Botchway, Mr. Enoch Justice Arthur, and Miss Felicia Akoto-Danso, attended the Conference alongside over 35 Students together with Executives of the Information Technology Society.
Dr. Anokye Acheampong Amponsah, a Lecturer at ITDS delivered a keynote address on behalf of the Head of Department, Prof. Peter Appiahene. In his speech, he highlighted the department's achievements and promoted the University’s image at large. Two students, Mr. Amankwaa Ernest Winchester, and Miss Goode Antoinette, exhibited the Ngoogo app, an innovative solution developed by the department that detects skin diseases and segments brain tumors through medical images.
The Department was also allocated a booth to showcase and market the University and the academic programmes offered. The Conference provided the Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences to network with other technology institutions, exploring potential opportunities for industrial attachments, partnerships, collaborations, sponsorships, and support. The successful participation of the ITDS Department at the Tech in Ghana Conference - Accra Edition signifies UENR's commitment to innovation, excellence, and community engagement.
