The purpose of this project is to develop a software solution for waste management system that help residents in managing their waste bins effectively. The Designing and developing a waste management system is a web-based software designed to schedule waste collection services for individuals, households, and businesses. Customers can schedule the pickup by simply selecting the pickup date of their choice using a simple online interface. The most significant aspects of the system are GPS tracking, where customers are able to track in real-time the status of pickup of their waste and receive notification when the collection truck arrived. The software also has automated SMS reminders, where customers receive reminders when the waste will be picked up and when it was picked up. By easy booking and enhanced communication, the system encourages environmentally friendly disposal practices. The residents are empowered to take active roles in disposing of waste and thereby assist in preserving nature and a clean society. This new strategy not only improves efficiency in waste collection but also encourages civic environmental responsibility culture among citizens.
Research Area
Web App Development: Web Development research in Computer Science and Information Technology focuses on the design, creation, and optimization of websites and web applications that are accessible over the internet or private networks. This research area spans a variety of topics, including front-end and back-end development, web frameworks, web performance, user experience (UX) design, security, and emerging web technologies.
Front-end development research explores the design and functionality of the user-facing side of web applications. This involves studying languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as popular frameworks like React, Angular, and Vue.js, which help create dynamic, responsive, and interactive user interfaces. Researchers in this area often focus on improving the accessibility and usability of websites across different devices and browsers.
Back-end development focuses on the server side of web applications, where databases, server logic, and application functionality are managed. Research in this area includes database management, server configuration, APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), and the use of frameworks such as Node.js, Django, and Ruby on Rails. It also involves optimization of server-side processes to handle large-scale traffic, improve load times, and ensure seamless data processing.
Project Main Objective
The aim of this project is to develop and design a waste management system that will enhance service efficiency, accessibility, and satisfaction for residents, businesses, and tricycle waste collectors in Sunyani Municipality in the Bono Region of Ghana.
